Happy Birthday to my Mummy!

Ok, Ok, this card is TOTALLY cased from Teneale Williams ~ well it's my "creative interpretation"!  I did warn her...  Now, let me just say, after (re-)creating this card, I have discovered that sewing on my cards is just not happening. Well, at least not with the mini-machine I got for the soul purpose of sewing on cards with. Hence the lace on the top and bottom of the panel ;) ~ Yep, total COVER UP! Four attempts and the tension just would not play nice :(

 



 

As the title suggests, it was my mum's birthday this week.

My gorgeous girls made some great things for Nanny's birthday and

I promised I would post them for the whole world to see.

 

Here is Claire's Dog (to replicate my mum's pooch)

Wobbly belly, shiny nose and lead for walkies too.

 

 

Nat opted for the "side step" card with the "Fabulous You" shoe (coloured and cut out by herself),

pierced birthday banner and postage punch "Nan"

 

And my mum is a keen West Tigers supporter so we made her a cake too!

Nat insisted we have orange icing with black writing.

 

 

It is school holidays here in NSW so I will try to get some cards made and posted during the holidays but each time I get in my craft room I get swamped by the masses (well, the two girls who love to create with me). I will post my MIL's birthday card but not until I have given it to her - can't spoil the surprise... Let me just say it is a new (for me) technique I tried and I think it turned out great.  Time will tell.

JUGS, Mojo & Bags...

I decided to combine my JUGS with my MOJO this week. Just Us Girls Challenge #153 was using a "line stamp"  and Monday Mojo 258 was a great sketch by Julee Tillman.

     









This birthday card is for one of the ladies at School, well actually Claire's Kindergarten teacher, Mrs Lloyd. Claire is now in year two...

As this card is another "give away" there is an inside as well.

 

 

OMG, OMG, OMG!!!! I'm so excited at the moment! I have found the ULTIMATE use for all (or some) of my brown packaging paper that I get with my Stampin' Up! orders. Ready??? Mini brown shopping bags, yes MINI BROWN SHOPPING BAGS.

 

 They don't look mini in the photo so I added the I-Tunes card (thanks K) so you could see how tiny they are! They would be perfect for lolly bags or for little samples and/or gift cards!  I cut them out (about 8 at a time) with the "Fancy Favour Die" I then twisted the side bits (from the off-cuts) after trimming for the handles in one and folded for the other. I think the folded handles look better.  If you use paper other than the brown packaging I would suggest NOT doing 8 at a time!  You could even have them with no handles for a mini lunch bag look - they fold flat nicely for later use!

Just Inspirational

This weeks Just Us Girls Challenge was a Photo Inspiration Challenge. This is a gorgeous photo but left me wondering, "Who sleeps in their kitchen?" !  This is such a subtle and pretty room and obviously multi-purpose!  This room kinda reminds me of my "up line" Louise Sharp - Pink and dotty (in a GOOD way)!   I am always in awe of her creations and she is also part of the inspiration for my card below.

I like the white of the room and used the subtle colours seen above as an "unfeatured" feature. I am particularly impressed with the white-on-white wood grain embossing, it reminds me of the storage space and the chairs in the room - I may use that again in the future!

Hope you like it, I'm quite impressed with it.  Now after all this Girly stuff I need to make Father's Day Cards!!  Wish me luck.  Keep Stampin' Marls xx

One for the Girls

This week's card was inspired by "Just Us Girls ~ Photo Inspiration Challenge 147" and my sister-in-law! The idea is to get inspired by the photograph (it's just beautiful) and then create your masterpiece. Well, I thought A flower and A butterfly but SIL suggested a bunch of flowers. Took a bit longer but well worth the effort!  So I have a bunch of Baja Breeze and Wisteria Wonder Hydrangeas and some Rose Red Emboss-lit Butterfly's.

My photo does not do the card much justice, I think I need some editing tips from a "proper" photographer!  the flowers are lifted of the page by dimensionals one under first layer and two high under second layer. Also there are little individual flowers (the ones with the pearls) on there also.

After looking at the photo again and then scrolling through the JUGS design team cards I had another idea that I may just post later in the week.

My Mojo 248

Here is my Mojo 248 card. This weeks card was inspired by some lovely ladies I met very recently but feel like I've known for a long time (oh, the wonderful world of Blog Hopping)!  The colours Rich Razzleberry and Crumb Cake were inspired by Narelle Macey who was inspired to make a Christmas Themed card inspired by Barbara Williams who was inspired by - it's all very compex! Anyway, here is the Sketch

Products used - Crumb Cake cardstock, Rich Razzleberry cardstock, DS Pattern Stack Brights, Basics Pearls, Crumbcake Seam Binding Ribbon (love this stuff!), Linen Thread and Stampin Up's EXCLUSIVE (lol) brown packing paper  - for the flower!

I unfortunately also had reason to make a Sympathy Card so I'll show you that as well.  I like this card - I'm quite chuffed by it. Even though Sympathy cards are not something we like to make I think it is nice that the recipient gets a unique gift and the knowledge that you have been thinking about them and care enough to make the effort to create something especially for them.

I just love these flowers and they are so easy (my 7 year old makes these) and versatile!  Just change the colour and you have a frangipani, a tiger lily or any number of colourful blooms!
